Mary Landrieu: schoolbuses are Bush's fault
Tags: mary landrieu, school buses, ray nagin, disaster planningAppearing on Fox News Sunday, Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu said the reason the flooded schoolbuses weren't used is because of… the Bush administration.
"Mayor Nagin and most mayors in this country have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out of the city in front of a hurricane… And it's because this administration and administrations before them do not understand the difficulties that mayors . . . face… In other words, this administration did not believe in mass transit. They won't even get people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out…"
Asked to criticize Nagin or others, she responded:
"Because the mayor evacuated the city, we had the best evacuation . . . of any evacuation I've seen. I'm 50 years old; I've never seen one any better."
That prompted FNS host Chris Wallace to remind: "But there were a hundred thousand people left in the city."
Landrieu once again blamed the White House, saying:
"They did [have] a hundred thousand people left in the city because this federal government won't support cities to evacuate people, whether it's from earthquakes, tornadoes, or hurricanes. And that's the truth."
There's video of here appearance here.

Was Mary Landrieu saying that people are so lazy they won't work on a sunny day and that's why they didn't evacuate?

I think Mary Landrieu should keep crib notes so she can remember when and what she has ranted about.

I am so sick of hearing and seeing the blame game as to who's fault it is that it took so long to get help to those in NewOrleans. The Gov. of LA and the Mayor of NewOrleans (Mr. Ray Nagin) new the possiblity that a cat. 4 or 5 hurricane would do what Katrina has done. They have a plan written, to evacuate all the people in this area. These people (if they were watching the news) knew how bad this storm was and what this storm could do, but chose to wait until just 24 hours before the cat. 5 (at the time) hit to call a MAN. EVAC. So who's is really to blame? Mr. Nagin, why don't you shut-up with your foul, dirty mouth and blame game and look at what you did wrong and could have done differently. You say that the majority of your people could not afford to leave. Well then, if you new that, why did you not use the school buses or public buses to get those people out that couldnot afford to leave on their own. This is your city, you run it, you know the people, so why were you so lax in ordering a man. evac. You failed your people and Mr. Bush did what he could as fast as he could. You should feel guilty for leaving your citizens hanging!!! Where were you? Were you there suffering with your people or did you get yourself out of what you called "Hell". It must be difficult to live with yourself, seeing what YOU left those people in. Shame on you Ray Nagin, shane on you.
