Is the surprisingly-low death count a bad thing? I guess if you were, for instance, trying to gain political advantage from a high count then it would be.
Now, certainly, there's the possibility that our government is (yet again) lying to us and deliberately undercounting, and that should certainly be looked into assiduously.
However, the DUmmies seem to be a bit... morbid in their calls for more research:
